RE: RE: Prospects ImprovingNo accounting for macro-economics these days, so best thing is don't try to figure it out. Most of my picks these days are swing trades based almost solely on technicals and candlesticks. Otherwise, trying to explain what is happening to CVE today makes no sense. When a stock wants to move, it moves (not very insightful, but true).
In the meantime, I'll definitely take what it is doing today because I'm trading the daily swings so I'll take some profits now, and then see what it does later today to see if I hold the rest or bail.
There is some crazy action going on with golds as well. I'm not pumping, but if you are looking for a possible reversal then another oil to watch is CNQ. It looked like it was headed below 30 but its technical pattern is now mirroring CVE. It didn't hold bottom out for as long as CVE but its technicals are all starting up again.
