MP Charlie Angus, Timmins/James Bay, will be participating in a National Film Board documentary on the mining culture of the north. Angus toured the Lake Shore Gold Mine with Quebec cultural icon, Richard Desjardins, who will be making the documentary. The tour of the Lake Shore Gold Mine is significant because it points to the promising future that gold production has in the Porcupine region. Angus himself has written five books on the history of the northern culture and has stated that he is proud that Desjardins is making the film.
