RE: Target Depths & Prospective Resource
RE: Target Depths & Prospective ResourceI am a Vast supporter and holder. However, as I read these targets from the Haywood report, I don't think you can change the target depths just because we encountered another possible pay zone. The seismic would have been able to determine the relative depths of the target zones.
We have already drilled through 1670m and are on the way into the Jurassic and Triassic.
If Niko was not the operator, we would likely have had a more detailed analysis of the Qamchuqa zone. Perhaps this is what Groundstar was referring to with multiple zones encountered. I don't know. I personally, was hoping for a significant find by now. We may have found it, however we aren't given the details, nor is the current well being tested.
I can think of three options:
#1 This might be a good thing because it demonstrates that NIKO is committed to the entire drilling program no matter what. They always stick to the program.
#2 This could be a bad thing in that they did not encounter stunning results (even though a 63m net pay zone is fairly impressive).
#3 The only other idea as to why they would continue drilling is that if they end up discovering a monster, Niko knows that it and Vast will be taken over very quickly. They are continuing drilling knowing that they have great results, but also knowing that they won't be paid for any other deeper targets unless they test them all at once.
Of the three above options, I would suggest that the chance of #1 are likely in the 60%, #2 30% and #3 10%.
Any other ideas? Anyone else want to share their odds on these three possibilities?
