Cymat Technologies Ltd. (Cymat) is a materials technology company with the rights to manufacture and sell stabilized aluminum foam products in many of the industrialized nations. Stabilized aluminum foam (SAF) is produced using a process, in which gas is bubbled into molten-alloyed aluminum containing a dispersion of fine ceramic particles to create foam that is then cast into lightweight panels and shapes. The result is a material with an array of features, including low density, mechanical energy absorption, thermal and acoustic insulation, is recyclable, time and temperature insensitive. The technology is focused on producing products for three major markets: automotive, architecture and blast mitigation. Cymat controls the patent elements related to its SAF, which include the fundamental process to make foam, irrespective of final shape; as a shaped part or a flat panel, and shaped parts using displacement casting.
Excluding the Alcan and Norsk Hydro ASA patents that they have rights too, they have also registered their own patents as follows.....
Cymat's Canadian Patents
2456822 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOW PRESSURE ALUMINUM FOAM CASTING
2477121 SEALED IMPELLER FOR PRODUCING METAL FOAM AND SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFORE
2474949 METAL FOAM CASTING APPARATUS AND METHOD
2400851 A METHOD AND MEANS FOR PRODUCING MOULDED FOAM BODIES
Cymat's USA Patents
7,481,964 Sealed impeller for producing metal foam and system and method therefor
6,998,535 Metal foam casting apparatus and method
6,932,146 Method and apparatus for low pressure aluminum foam casting
6,866,084 Method and means for producing moulded foam bodies
6,840,301 Method and apparatus for low pressure aluminum foam casting
Note: Norsk Hydro ASA has 494 patents in the "Canadian Patents Database" alone, how many of these do Cymat hold the rights too?
