 I saw some posters asking about margin rules well here they are:


Long positions:

$2.00 plus                                                    50% of FMV
1.75 - 1.99                                                    40% of FMV
1.50 - 1.74                                                    20% of FMV
Under 1.50                                                    No loan value
Securities eligible for reduced margin    70% of FMV


Also keep in mind that the broker/dealer does not have to follow these guidelines, and has the option to not extend margin loans.  Also IIROC produces a list of stocks that are eligible for reduced margin and it is based upon liquidity and other prevailing measures.
