T Boone PickinsI listened this AM to Mr Pickins on CBC, a 1/2 hour interview with a Vancouver host. It may be achived in the CBC vault. The gist of the conversation was how Mr Pickins is estimating the energy uses and resourses of the USA. The overriding part was his thinking that the US has 100 years of natural gas reserves and they should be using them to replace the "dirty" oil from the middle east. His thinking on Albertas dirty oil was sure, yeah its dirty but what can we replace it with. With Alberta supplying 15% or so of the oil to the USA its obvious that solar, wind and other green power sources cant replace it, at least not for decades. The cheap technology needed isnt cheap yet. Replace Alberta dirty oil? With what dirty oil from the middle east? I am thinking his is dirty political oil. 50% of US oil comers from countries on our dont visit list. These are Mr. Pickins quotes loosly translated.
Solar power cant be cost effective until natural gas hits 6.00. unless its heavily subsidized. Again his quotes.
