RE: Antimony

RE: AntimonyJust a few summary notes..

..............MOA's Little River  discovery had grades up to 50 % antimony associated with high grade gold with grades up to 24 gms/ton

...........Little River antimony discovery is on strike with the BeaverBrook mine which is the only producing antimony mine outside China

......the last info I could find was circa 1997 when reserves at BeaverBrook were 1.4 million tons at an average grade of 4.5 % atimony

........Beaverbrook's majority shareholder is MineMetals, China's largest metal trader

........Antimony demand is rapidly increasing at a time when China is shutting down more and more illegal mines

..........Little River grades are extremely high and uniquely associated  with high grade gold , a combination that, if confirmed by drilling, would  transform Little River into a premim world source of antimony

.............some recent antimony news

•Antimony price hike may lead to sustainable d 09-26

The permanent closure of illegal mines has reduced China's antimony production by one third, equating to 27% of total world production in 2009.Coupled with the reductions in supply from China, has seen antimony prices rise to $11,000 per metric ton, an increase of 150% since 2009, and nearly 10-fold over the past decade.

•Antimony on the Hit List 09-19

Traders and consumers are scurrying around for supplies in the antimony market following yet another clamp down by the authorities in Beijing on illegal mining operations in China. When there is any hiccup in supplies from China the rest of the world holds its breath. It is not an exaggeration to say that without China there is almost no antimony supply.

•Real worry is race for raw materials 09-17

China's investment push is likely to bring forth an era of intense competition between developed world multinationals and state-owned Chinese companies, but it is surely the race for raw materials - and notably raw earths -which is giving investors the greatest cause for concern.
