I wouldn't be suspicious about this. TMM just has an aggressive growth strategy. They believe in a long-term gold bull market and want to position themselves appropriately -- ideally before the next leg up in the gold price. If it works, TMM shareholders are sitting on a bigger company, with a bigger resource, and even greater exploration potential. They know they have at least some big shareholder support within CGC, so heck, why not give it a go?

Bruce B. doesn't want to waste time. Better to find out quickly whether or not this merger can be a reality. If it's not, TMM will move on with its internal growth plan or seek another acquisition. This is obviously a fit they like so they'll knock on this door first.
