Holding Company Discount

Taking the NAV from our last quarter, AAB is trading at a ~60% discount. I read somewhere that the average for similar companies being 40%, but I don't remember where I read it nor the reason why the author claimed that. Does anyone know of other similar holding companies and/or the average discount rate?

Looking at the investments and assets in Aberdeen's portfolio, I do not understand the huge discount gap from NAV. Personally I would give a 85% discount, but that's just my arbitrary number until I learn more.
