Tamerackerdown, I think that you are on the right track. I've watched and invested in REM/VMS for a number of years. Really, considering their "great" find, except for the temporary spike to about $1.70, the stock has not done very much.
I sold all my shares a while back and invested in precious metals, and am doing well - no more speculative juniors for me.  My adventure with REM/VMS cost me tens of thousands of dollars -  that's why I occasionally drop by to see how things are going.
For years we were told that we had an excellent team with years of experience - and they paid themselves well, and also gave themselves a lot of stock options.
But for some reason, even after getting approximately  $20,000,000  cash from the IPO, they seemed slow to act. Of course they still get paid no matter how much they do, how fast they act., or what happens to the share price.  Also some of the management split their time between various companies: Harvest Gold,  Pancontinental and North American Nickel.  I imagine that they get paid by each company. I wonder if they draw less salary because they only work a portion of their time for VMS?
And now they hired some more expensive help, on the backs of the shareholders, and another 925,000 in new warrants issued - further dilution to future gains. I wonder how many of the over 11 million existing options belong to management? I know that some options were sold in the past, by management, for a nice profit.
I am glad that I got out, and I guess that I am a little bitter, but I wish the best for those still holding shares.
