They released a 74-page 43-101 report on one of their properties - how does THAT translate into a "fluff" news release???

Did You even read the report?  
I would hardly call 38,000 shares traded to manipulate the price downwards a tanking stock. 
More than likely a concerted effort at shorting the stock to purchase cheaper shares.
