RE: EMI LITHIUM plays look promisingElectric Metals Inc. is a mineral exploration company strategically positioned with an interest in Nevada’s rich lithium reserves to support the growing demand for lithium battery production in the United States.
Electric Metals has an option to acquire a 100% mineral rights to 70 association placer claims totaling 11,200 acres in central Esmeralda County, Nevada. The claims are grouped in one contiguous claim block and are approximately 35 miles west of Tonopah, the nearest town able to provide major support services and a local trained workforce. Roads are graded and maintained by the County providing access to the claims and surrounding areas.
Big Smoky Valley Lithium Project is located northwest of the lithium brine operation of Chemetall Foote Corporation at Clayton Valley. Clayton Valley is home to the only lithium producer in the United States. This plant extracts lithium from brines pumped from aquifiers below the valley and has been in production since 1967. The plant is designed to produce 1.2 million kg of lithium per year and to date has produced an estimated 50 million kg of lithium.
The volcanics surrounding the Big Smoky Valley Lithium Project contain some of the richest lithium concentrations in the world and their brines and evaporities have been accumulating in the vast Clayton Valley for at least 33,000 years. These brines have the highest lithium content of any brines tested by the USGS in the southwestern US. The Clayton Valley area brines have been estimated to contain 700 million kg of Lithium to a depth of 1,200 ft. (Kunasz, 1975). The Clayton Valley area brines have the highest lithium content of all brines located in the southwestern United States.
Electric Metals is currently assessing the size, quality and processing alternatives of its Big Smoky Valley Lithium Project.
