RAGING

RAGINGThe reason for the continued rise in the price of commodities and precious metals is that people want "stuff' instead of paper, as in paper money. We and Australia are the "stuff" capitals of the world. Sure, the US of A has 350 million people but Asia has billions who are dragging themselves out of the stone age and into the 21 century. What we need to do is get that pipeline to Prince Rupert and sell Asia our oil and all the commodities that they need.
The Americans are also going to need our water. Let's sell it to them. Canada's north will provide a huge mineral resource over the next century. As Canadians, we need to get on it.
The whole world runs on electricity. IMO, we need to go nuclear in a big way. Not only mining it and selling uranium, but building nuclear power plants in every province.
However you look at it, we and Australia are the best positioned countries in the world.
As for the Econazis and the Natives, we need to run the Econazis out of town and make sure that our Natives have the best opportunities for education and training so that they can benefit from the economic prosperity by working for it. They also need to own their own property and homes on the reserves. we need to stop giving our Natives handouts and give them a hand up.
I have a friend who travels to China regularly. They are a communist country, right? Wrong. They are about as capitalistic as you could imagine. In 10 years from now, China is going to have a power grid supplied by nuclear power and a transportation system second to none. Because they also have the bonus of being able to make decisions quickly and to embark on long terms projects, their economy is continuing to grow at 10%. Our kind of capitalism might seem great but all the power hungry western politicians can never think past the next election. The significant amount of gov't workers we have, many of whom do diddly, are like a stone around our necks.

As for the USA, the Republicans who now run the House say that they will cut the budget by 20%.  When Anderson Cooper of CNN asked them where they were going to cut, they couldn't answer. It will become apparent to them soon enough that the best place for them to cut will be on their military spending. They could cut the military spending by 35% and just plain get out of the middle east. They could then stop worrying about their oil supply and Arab instability because their good buddies to the north will be happy to send down another pipeline from Alberta and sell it to them our oil for a measley $125 a barrel. And if they continue to or threaten to jerk us around on the softwood, we can just shove more oil into the western pipeline to China.

We really have it made. The problem is that most people just aren't aware of it. Now if we could just buy ourselves a small island in the Caribbean, we would have it made.
