3 positives this morning ...
3 positives this morning ...Three positive items this morning should alleviate fear for Kurd oil plays:
1) From GSA NR:
Qara Dagh Block, Kurdistan, Iraq
The Qara Dagh -1 exploration well, operated by Niko, experienced operational difficulties in the Tanjero formation near the current measured depth of 2,239 meters.
These difficulties have been resolved. The go forward plan is to install intermediate 11 3/4 inch casing string and drill ahead to evaluate the three primary Cretaceous targets; Shiranish, Kometan and Qamchuga. Drilling for the Qara Dagh-1 well is anticipated to be completed in January 2011.
2) From VST NR:
After setting the 13 3/8 inch casing string at 1,650 meters, the well was
drilled through an unexpected unstable zone to a depth of 2,239 meters in
the upper Cretaceous formation. This zone has caused delays in the
drilling progress; however, the Company does not expect this issue to
persist once it enters the first potential reservoir.
3) From Iraq:
All the issues that were important to the KRG were accepted,” Barzani said. “Article 140, the KRG contracts, the hydrocarbons law, were all agreed to. A program and the action plan of the government will be based on that.”
