RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Cash Payout?.........and, since you have sold the 'borrowed' shares to a third party (who will receive the dividend directly from the company as he is now the registered owner), you are obligated to pay the dividend to the owner of the 'borrowed' shares, as  he still believes he owns the shares. If, in fact, he wants delivery of his shares (which you sold) you must go into the open market and pay the going price to replace the 'borrowed' shares.

The bottom line is the company will only pay one dividend to one owner.
