BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – November 17, 2010: The Ford Transit Connect has extended its reign as Small Van of the Year in the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) awards, winning the title for a record-breaking eighth year in succession.

Members of ACFO, the UK’s largest fleet organisation, voted as they have done every year since 2003 – the first year it became eligible for an ACFO award – to maintain the Transit Connect’s unbroken victory run.

Kevin Griffin, Ford Britain fleet director said: “We are delighted to receive this award, which reflects the opinions of actual fleet customers. Eight awards in eight years for the Transit Connect underlines and recognises Ford’s commercial vehicle success and why Ford is first choice for thousands of British businesses.”

ACFO’s awards are among the most prestigious prizes in the fleet industry because they are the result of a poll of the association’s 800 members, all of whom operate cars and vans as part of their commercial activities. Judging is based on members’ practical experiences of their own fleet vehicles during a 12-month period and take into account driver opinions, running costs and the efficiency of dealer networks.

Julie Jenner, ACFO chairman said: “Fleet decision makers are reliant on motor manufacturers to deliver vehicles that are safe, reliable, environmentally friendly and cost effective to operate. Operating successfully in partnership relies on the availability of top quality vehicles and first rate suppliers, allowing vehicle downtime to be kept to a minimum and fleet managers can focus on the efficient and effective operation of their vehicles to support their businesses.”
