My conclusion was based on the stereo-type that the extremely rich are lazy.  If so, I doubt they went around knocking on all of the farmer's doors and cutting a deal with them.  That's for vacuum salesman and as you have stated it is difficult to get that information.  It's much easier to call 1 person and get 60,000 acres, than place hundereds of calls and cut deals with farmers.  Farmer's can destroy a company by dragging there feet, and some do this this, because they are paid each time they have to go court or sign papers.  As this company is made up of big wigs, I don't imagine they will go this route. 

I agree with the red dot on your map, but Quicksilver has a lot more land than that.

If Vecta has a bunch of fee lands then so be it, but I'm betting that it's less probable.
