To add/clarify, I do know that the metallurgical coal in that region of the rockies is of exceptional quality, and in laymans terms, as I have learned burns so hot, that it actually needs to be blended down with poorer quality coal to make it suitable for coking. How did I learn this? I worked at Smoky River Coal in GC before it became GCE. I spent some long cold nights shovelling coal back onto the belt that loaded the trains and had fallen off over the years. I worked there as a student during the summers to pay for University. I also worked in the processing plant, as well as number 12 mine steaming the haulpack trucks for the mechanics to work on. In comparison to how the coal was mined there, ie underground and surface high up in the mountains, it seems to me that CPT is a no brainer with seams being located near surface, with near/equal quality coal available, and a transport mode adjacent to boot. I guess time will tell on this one...
