Skundric to attend Sofia Energy Conference

Belgrade, 29 Nov 2010 – Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric will attend the Energy Conference of Southeast European countries in Sofia on 30 November, organised by the Bulgarian government.

One of the priorities in energy politics of all Southeast European countries is to secure stable and regular supplies of energy and energy resources, while establishing an integrated energy sector to encourage economic development of the region.

The Conference’s main topic will be the development of the energy sector in Southeast Europe through a joint regional platform in the context of future EU membership.

During the course of the conference, a ministerial meeting will be held to discuss future joint energy projects.

At the previous ministerial meeting of the Energy Community, Skundric initiated the drafting of a joint energy strategy for Southeast Europe.

The Ministerial Council of the Energy Community endorsed this initiative and declared that a joint strategy will encourage the implementation of large energy projects in the region, reads a statement by the Ministry.
