Fixing your analysis:

Your two scenarios where the share price goes to $9:

1. Buy the warrants at $.50. If the share price gets to $9, you exercise and  immediately sell at $9, less the $4 strike price, for a tidy return of $5, or 10 times your initial outlay of .50, which comes to a 900% gain.

2. Buy the shares outright at $1, and sell for a return of $9, or an 800% gain.

Slightly ahead with the warrant at these example prices. The breakeven price comes to slightly over $8.
