RE: Is This An Achievement?doingthejob/aatozz,
ISM doesn't eat my guts out, as you say I don't have shares in it. But I'm sure it has given ulcers to most that have been unfortunate enough to have been on this cruise with the Randy Man.
As for my reaction to you, it's not really irritation I feel, although there is that need to slap you once in a while like a mosquito with that droning buzz. I'd say the initial reaction when encountering you is pity. It's hard to feel other than pity when encountering a person who has wrongfully put himself on a pedestal for what he thought was an important achievement, when everyone else knew it was a childish exercise. Watching you crash in humiliation when your Survey/AGM caper blew up in your face, could only bring pity - although I will confess, that Agoracom essay you wrote while preparing the assault did bring tears to my eyes that wasn't all pity. That last paragraph was a keeper: "Lets explore these vehicles of communication and collaberation such that we bridge the obvious broken relationship between ISM management and its shareholders as that was the most contentious issue from the survey. Whaler, this is an incredible opportunity. Lets embrace it so that we all win!". I couldn't help but think of poor old whaler feeling like he had to embrace your dumbassed caper, while knowing what an embarrassing waste of time it was going to be. I'll admit I was callous in thinking how the two of you deserved each other. Anyway, my compassion returned and I did feel pity for you when you recounted how you were blown off at the AGM with the promise of a free dinner with your idol. That was a dirty trick, a pie in the face sort of thing that everyone saw coming except you.
No for sure, aatozz/doingthejob, it's pity I feel, not irritation. And it's sort of a numbing pity, knowing that you are unlikely to work yourself out of this adoration you feel for your company of choice and it's CEO. Millright sets out proof of the dismal execution involved with the prime company asset, and you are so brain-washed you think your delusions involve logic and humiliate Millright. It is so unfortunate that there isn't some protection for marks like you, but that's the law of the jungle. In a way, maybe it's more merciful that you don't realize what's taken place. As they say, ignorance is bliss, and you have to be the most blissful person I've ever encountered.
