I am Kurdish myself (came to Canada in 1992) and I can tell you that Christmas is openly celebrated in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.  I was actually just watching Kurdistan tv and there were numerous shows on in celebration of Christmas.  The Kurds still have a ways to go to become a truly democratic society, but are the most likely people to do so in all of the middle east.  They look up to the Western nations and do not harbour any hatred towards those nations.
