Oncolytics Biotech Inc T.ONC

Alternate Symbol(s):  ONCY

Oncolytics Biotech Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company. The Company is focused on developing pelareorep, an intravenously delivered immunotherapeutic agent that activates the innate and adaptive immune systems and weakens tumor defense mechanisms. This compound induces anti-cancer immune responses and promotes an inflamed tumor phenotype turning cold tumors hot through innate and adaptive immune responses to treat a variety of cancers. This improves the ability of the immune system to fight cancer, making tumors more susceptible to a broad range of oncology treatments. The Company’s primary focus is to advance its programs in hormone receptor-positive / human epidermal growth factor 2- negative (HR+/HER2-) metastatic breast cancer and advanced/metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma to registration-enabling clinical studies. In addition, it is exploring opportunities for registrational programs in other gastrointestinal cancers through its GOBLET platform study.

Musings.

Musings.Quite some time ago I posted that I felt the authorities in Europe would approve Reolysin before the FDA. The Europians have what the Yanks love to call "socialized medicine" -probably because they can't manage the same- and as we all know their economies are imploding. There are many more cancer victims in Europe than in North America so the impetous is to find a cheaper way to treat the disease. I believe that ONC can provide that service.

I get the impression (mine only) that BT is leaning to get approval in Europe before here. Add to this scenerio the suggestion that pressure from the private health care industry has less effect on social governments in Europe than on a Republican congress here in North America.

I remember a statement by a computer repair analyst a few years ago. He stated that if he discovered an inexpensive full proof method of preventing viruses from infecting computers he would probably be dead within a day.
