Extreme weather affects Queensland ports
28th December 2010 19:13 GMT

Heavy floods continue to wreak havoc on the Queensland coastline
Extreme wet weather conditions continue to affect the Queensland coast and coalfields, particularly around the Bowen Basin / Hay Point / Mackay area.
A train derailment has caused further major delays to delivery of cargo to the Hay Point terminals.
At this time the derailment is expected to be cleared by December 31, 2010, however continuing wet weather and localised flooding continues.
Rail delivery of cargo to the Hay point terminal is extremely limited due to the above derailment,  as well as continuing heavy rain.
Heavy rain and localised flooding is expected to continue throughout the region for the next week.
