DJ Severstal Taps Ex-Anglo American Executive For Gold Unit-Report

LONDON, Jan 02, 2011 (Dow JonesCommodities News Select via Comtex) --

Russian mining companySeverstal JSC (CHMF.RS) has tapped a former executive of Anglo American PLC(AAL.LN) to head its gold unit ahead of its floatation, U.K. newspaper The Independent onSunday reports.


The newspaper, whichdidn't cite any source, says Philip Baum, a former head of ferrous metals atAnglo American, was hired to manage the division of the Russian miner.


It says the initialpublic offering of Severstal's gold unit, due later this year in London, is set to value the division atmore than $4 billion.
