RE: more sales to china

RE: more sales to chinaOn the topic of lumber mill production...Elko mill has taken on a couple new hires and rumours are swirling about 10 more guys coming on in the spring. I spoke with a 30-year employee of the mill and he says they're running as strong as ever. The Cranbrook finger joint plant is still collecting dust. The Cranbrook planer is just a distant memory, although I hear the union is making progress in getting severance pay for the guys that used to work there. Tembec has been refusing to pay them for a few years now. Even if they do pay it out, I don't think its a big enough chunk of change to be any sort of game changer in the big picture. Canal Flats pulp mill has never seemed to miss a beat....it just keeps going and going....
Good to hear about the Ontario mill, gettin in on the China action. I hear some of the lumber from here is going that way as well. Bug-kill pine. Theres a market for it so don't let the haters freak you out about it. Its a little cheaper (lower grade) which leads to big savings for companies that use lumber as a disposable product when working with contrete forms and whatnot.
Looks like we're all just enjoying the ride...making up things to talk about at this point. I took a couple dollars out of my account and bought myself a new snowboard as my reward to myself for riding this one out :-p The way its going maybe my next reward will be a Ferrari? I'll keep dreaming....
Happy New Year All!
