An idea for stockhouse....
An idea for stockhouse....s1g last post does raise an interesting, factual point : there are a number of posters that use multiple aliases on this board. Anyone who disputes that is either blind or extremely naive. I do not believe that NRI's management team would be dumb enough to post here directly.
That said, as I have stated in the the past, I question the motivations of some of these multiple personality posters. There are also a couple of posters that are VERY knowledgeable about the pharma industry that post subtle negative message on NRI (albeit rarely). I suspect that these are probably insiders from the competition.
Stockhouse should always display the IP address from which a post was published. It should take a programmer about 10 minutes to implement that and it would 1) make it a lot more complicated for our multiple personalities friends to continue their scheme and 2) very dangerous for any insider (from NRI or the competition) to post here using a legitimate address (home or office)
There are ways to circumvent such a measure (by using a proxy or by posting from different PC's or networks (internet cafes, wifi access point, etc)) but the very usage of any of these means (most of these can be easily detected) would, in my view, render these post at the very least suspicious.
No one with an hidden (an potentially illegal) agenda would take the risk to post here from a legitimate traceable IP address (either from work or their home) if said address could be verified by anyone who follows this board (including regulators). So if a poster ALWAYS uses a proxy or an untraceable public network to post, it would be a very good indication to the readers that the content of these post should be taken with a grain of salt.
Of course, all the posters IP's are available in stockhouse.com web server log files but I suspect that these are off limits without an official request by the authorities.
As an added benefit, such a measure would increase the overall civility of the conversation here...
