RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: cheerleaders for 1/2 priceHi Beastie,
You'll have lots of time to trade in and out before a Covidien buy-out. You are trying to time the markets and it is lots of fun testing your skills, for sure! i am not as good as you at timing the market and prefer slow and steady wins. We have to stick with whatever works. As for me being always wrong, a few points: 1- there was a time when i sold it all at 0.45 and 0.50 and told everyone, and i got a lot of criticism for that, but that was years ago. 2- the word "wrong" is a relative term only because it all has to do with time frames. Time will be the ultimate judge. And what is wrong today can be correct tomorrow. 3- you are correct that i make mistakes- but i know to take tax losses. i've made enough mistakes so that i won't have to pay any capital gains taxes for years and years. But i've also made enough money from the markets to be very comfortable. It's best to set a mental stop loss that you are comfortable with and don't bet the farm.
But don't follow me. i am actually a very aggressive investor. When i place an order it seems to start a mini rally. When the NRI stock was 0.14, my order was for 150K on the bid and the darn stock started to rally. i've done this several times up to 0.155 very recently. It looks like electronic programs are doing the buying and selling to me. So now i am holding a lot of NRI shares and very content to hold this new batch of shares. i am taking a gamble based on my knowledge. Sure it is only conjectural knowledge, net of assumptions, but at least this is better than being without an opinion. i love to read everyone's posts because it helps me to refine this conjectural knowledge which is a closer appoximation of the truth. But i know that even this is relative to new developments of reason. And in this reason, i am trying to anticipate reality if i can find an over-all positive performance. What does this all mean? It means that i am a risk taker and so far in my life i have been more right than wrong. Hope that clears the air.
Watch out though...i am serious when i say that i am just having fun... i am a big risk taker because i know what is important in life, and it isn't money. Ever look up at the stars and wonder what you are looking at? Did you know that space is expanding faster than the speed of light? Have you seen the most distant galaxies ever seen so far? It is absolutely humbling. Ever study the very small (parts of atoms) and the very large(the cosmos)? Money is nothing but a small human invention and in the overall scheme of the Universe is nothing at all. None of us will be here 50 years from now and no one will care that we either made a lot of money or lost a lot of money. The irony of it all is that when i started to think this way, money started flowing to me. So, my wish for everyone is good health and may you discover the incredible Universe we live in. Money will probably come to you when you no longer seek it.
And one last personal note. i have a good laugh when people call me a guy! i never questioned the sex of Stock1GUY or TorontoCycleGUY or taxMANca or PharmerBOY or jonnieBOY etc... it's just like in physics class when the geeks look around and say, there's a girl in our class. LOL. The same for business or philosophy class... double standards. Enough personal stuff, beastie... philly asked me a good question. i'll work on it in a bit.
