Orvana Minerals Extends Mineralization At Carles In Spain; EVBC Mine Production To Begin In Spring
Orvana Minerals (TSX: ORV) announced Thursday results from recent drilling at the Carles deposit in northern Spain, which extended and verified the continuity of mineralization in certain areas.
The drilling formed part of a 12-month, 20,000-metre program that began last September. The results reported are from the Capa Z zone, and include both infill and stepout drill holes. The zone lies between the Carles North and Carles East orebodies and consists of over 80% inferred resources.
Highlights from the first holes drilled in the Capa Z area include hole 10CE1001, which intersected 5.58 metres at 4.21g/t Au, 25.8 g/t Ag, and 2.32% Cu. Hole 10CE1003 returned 0.5 metres at 59.6g/t Au, 13.7 g/t Ag and 0.05% Cu. Both 10CE1001 and 10CE1003 were infill drill holes.
Meanwhile, stepout hole 10CE1011 intersected 1.01 metres at 5.33g/t Au, 41.9g/t Ag and 1.31% Cu, including 2.98 metres at 4.67g/t Au, 13.7 g/t Ag and 1.44% Cu.
"These results verify the continuity of, and in some cases extend, the mineralization in areas where inferred resources were estimated at Capa Z," said Agne Ahlenius, general manager of Kinbauri Espana, a subsidiary of Orvana Minerals.
"Drilling will continue in Carles and we currently have 2 rigs underground that will drill on the A107, San Martin and the Boinas East orebodies at El Valle-Boinas."
In addition, the company also announced today that the development of the El Valle-Boinas/Carles (EVBC) gold-copper mine is progressing well, with first production scheduled for spring of this year.
Approximately 15,000 tonnes of ore from the development work has been stockpiled, Orvana said.
