RE: Nortel!I keep reading the Nortel patents are worth $1 billion. Is that the selling price or value of licensing fees?
If that's the selling price I would expect the licensing to be worth upwards of $10 billion, since someone has to accept the risk that technology changes quickly so the patents could be worthless in short order.
If the licensing is worth $1 billion then I would expect the selling price to be much less.
If Nortel want the patents to be managed then there is no selling price, but the successful bidder would get a commission and the rest goes to Nortel for taking the risk of owning the patents.
Any thoughts on this?
