TV technology and signal shoppingI have long suspected that a few of you know and understand this technology much better than I do. I have questions, please.
We're about to replace a 27" VGA television and analog cable signal subscription with a 46" to 50" widescreen HD television, 5.1 surround sound, and some kind of digital signal.
Screen: plasma or LED and if LED, what kind?
Input: cable-digital, satellite, or just air-digital and internet?
Uses: entertainment but possibly the odd public presentation slide-show practice run
Input preferences: Some French and Spanish-language channels if possible. (Please don't tell me to move!) News and business news channels. Mindless action movies.
We currently have a 3-service bundled subscription with Shaw Comm. in Greater Vancouver. Cell service is with Fido (Rogers). A HD-digital cable signal subscription is possible though more expensive I suppose. I thought about cutting the television signal subscription, using an aerial receiver and then paying more for faster internet download speeds.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
