RE: RE: GS - Please commentFluid sampling can take a long time (MDT) because you have to pump out any invaded fluid before sampling the reservoir and that can take quite a while, particularly if you are using the probe rather than the packer and have multiple horizons. Also, many companies opt to send this tool in on drill pipe (TLC) so if there is any tool problems the time really adds up because you have to trip out. It is easy to blow through a week or more logging open hole when you count in vertical seismic profiling, pressure gradient measurements, and fluid sampling on top of the standard set of logs that are generally run here in Canada.
Of course, that is open hole logging... this news release seems to suggest that the hole is cased with 9-5/8" pipe already....? or am I reading that wrong?
CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jan 14, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
VastExploration Inc. ("Vast" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: VST) ispleased to provide the following update on the drilling progress of theQara Dagh - 1 Exploration Well.
Since the last update on December13, 2010 the well has been drilled down to 2,522 meters, and over thepast several days, an intermediate 9 5/8 inch casing string has beensuccessfully set and cemented .
Based on regional geologicalcorrelations with nearby wells it has been interpreted that the well isnear the top of the Shiranish formation which is the first of threeprimary drilling targets in the Cretaceous.
Once logging andrelated geological survey runs are completed on this current section, drilling operations are expected to resume. Mr. Ahmed Said, President& CEO, stated "We are pleased with the recent drilling progress, despite past delays due to difficult geological conditions. We areeagerly awaiting further results as we drill into our primary targets".
