Manager Commentary
The Diversified Equity Fund was up
14.0% in Q4 and finished the year up
26.5%. Our largest positions were
some of the top performers, including
Ithaca Energy, Hudbay Minerals,
Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines
and Pacific Rubiales Energy. Some
newer additions that performed well in
the quarter included Trican Well
Services, Cline Mining, Celtic
Resources and Canadian Spirit
Resources. Wi-Lan, which we bought
in September and added to in
October, was up 51% during the
quarter following a positive court ruling
regarding its major patent suit.

Our holdings continue to favour
energy stocks as well as other
resource-based holdings, consistent
with our long-term bullish view on
commodities due to growth in the
middle class in the developing world,
especially China and India. We also
decided to enter back into financials
during the quarter. After a mostlysideways
year from TD Bank, we
added it due to its US exposure (we're
bullish believers in a US recovery) and
smart acquisition of Chrysler Financial.
We made Martinrea one of our
largest investments in 2010 because
we believe that financing for
automobiles would become easier
thus helping auto sales in North
America, and TD Bank entering into
the auto financing business will only
help.
