what's a few meters among friends?

what's a few meters among friends?
I will bow/defer to the more knowledgable on this, but I do have some questions.

Where does the 500-meter figure come from (as in 500 meters is too deep to open-pit mine)? I am looking at page 10 of the Evolving Gold presentation on the company web site and it seems to me the entire Antelope Basin deposit is maybe 300 meters or shallower. Also the North Stock as depicted is an inverted triangle with the bulk at 400 meters or shallower.

As others have mentioned, I was under the impression that this RSH claim was being viewed as a two-stage project. Stage 1: Open pit for the shallow, lower grade gold. Stage 2: Using proceeds from Stage 1, go for the more rich deposits thought to lie deeper.

What am I missing?

Thanks for any and all responses.
