You have to remember that when a reverse split is done, that means there at that many fewer shares on the market too (whatever the ratio is chosen). If the market is hot, like it is for potash, then you will probably see a quicker and bigger rise in s/p as well because of the fewer shares (ICP?).. Bottom line, I guess, is that it all depends on the stock and the market.
I have been reading on this BB that the logic for INT doing a reverse split (although it doesn't need one yet) is to raise the s/p above a dollar so institutions can start buying ... I'd rather have the s/p go above a dollar with the shares we have and see it boom even further!!!
I personally do not like reverse splits, but they are needed at times - mostly to raise cash and to dilute less after a reverse split. If a Company's s/p is 2 cents and they have 300 million shares outstanding .... the Company just has to issue more shares to raise the same amount of capital compared to if the Company was 20 cents with 30 million shares outstanding .... plus the higher s/p is more attractive.
