Aperto Networks, a subsidiary of Tranzeo Wireless Technologies (News- Alert), announced that it has been selected to offer broadband wireless network solution by one of India's largest telecom service providers. Initial shipments for the $2.6 million order are expected to begin in Q1 2011 and continue throughout 2011. Aperto did not disclose the name of the service provider. India is becoming an attractive destination for broadband equipment vendors following the broadband wireless access spectrum auction in 2010.
Though the spectrum auction was successful, there is a delay in deploying networks in the country. This is primarily due to the fact that operators are also deploying 3G networks at the same time. The operator is planning to deploy a nation-wide broadband network in over 200 cities serving enterprise customers running mission critical applications. The first phase of the broadband project will be installed in two of India's largest regions.
“We are extremely pleased to be working with two of the largest operators in India,” said James Tocher, president and CEO of Tranzeo. “Our WiMAX and WiFi (News - Alert) product lines are an excellent cost effective solution for network expansion in India. We expect to win many more programs in India over the coming months.”
Tranzeo Wireless Technologies manufacturers wireless network equipment that allows businesses and communities to communicate without boundaries. Tranzeo's cost effectiveness, high quality and support system have attracted more than 2,465 dealers and 16 distributors, company officials said.
The company offers point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios, WiMAX (News - Alert) equipment, and mesh network solutions aimed at wireless Internet service providers, governments, campuses, military, carriers, enterprise customers, and systems integrators around the globe. Tranzeo merged with Aperto Networks (News - Alert) earlier last year.
