RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Headed the wrong way!My thoughts as well. Either way we seem to be covered.
Let's face it....with dudes like Chavez....it's always risky business...but as much as he would like to create the perfect S. American Utopian Socialist model...and toss all the nasty capitalist swine into the sea....he can't...because he knows he needs them and their expertise and the foreign currency they generate. So he has to deal with them...and who better than someone he knows and trust....like us:) While Chavez and his lads are still tending bar in Caracas.....suspect we will continue to enjoy favoured customer status. And Andre knows it....otherwise he wouldn't have sunk a big chunk of change recently into the company.
Then when Chavez does eventually go....hopefully a bit sooner than Castro did :) ....we'll really soar ...as risk premium will evaporate almost overnight and it's game on...as investors pour back into plays in Venezuela.
As an aside, as much as we love to bash Chavez and his controversial and misguided 'approach' to bettering the common Venezuelians std of living....i admit that do admire the man for what he's trying to achieve. Probably going back 27-30 yrs since i was last down there...but vividly recall the massive divide btwn the haves and the have nots. Recall standing on some posh high rise luxury hotel balcony in downtown Caracas looking out onto the sprawling mountain side shanty town where the folks up there had no running water, sewer, electricity...or seemingly hope. Then going downstairs to the hotel concourse level and seeing the absolute oppulence. The hotel shop's were selling bloody mink fur coats ....and it's zillion degrees ouside! The contrast was unreal...and simply unsustainable. So, the masses down there have had their little revolution and installed Chavez....and they currently love him....and he seems to be trying to extend his stay as long as he can...but i'm guessing like all the others....he to will eventually outstay his welcome and drive the country into deeper despair...and then the shine will wear off. But...until then...we need to continue to stay in Chavez's good books:)
