Canadian International Minerals Inc. (TSXV:CIN) and Commerce Resources Corp (TSXV:CCE) are pleased to announce the discovery of a significant zone of rare earth element (REE) mineralization at their joint ventured Carbo Project, located northeast of Prince George, BC.
A total of nine NQ core holes (1,938.9 m) were completed; all holes returned significant REE mineralization within carbonatite lithologies. Drilling was concentrated within an approximately 500 metre square area, within the northeast part of the Carbo claim block. Highlights of the program are as follows:
-- Hole CA10-001 intersected 4.07% TREO across 2.12 m;
-- Hole CA10-002 intersected multiple intervals of mineralized
carbonatite from 1.15 to 3.17 m across, with peak values of
3.70% across 1.15 m;
-- Hole CA10-006 intersected 1.43% TREO across 37.3 m; and
-- Hole CA10-008 intersected 3% TREO across 3.0 m.
The 2010 drilling, combined with historic exploration confirmed the presence of significant REE mineralization within the northernmost portions of the more than 5 km long, Wicheeda Carbonatite-Syenite Complex.
Michael Schuss, President of Canadian International Minerals comments "The discovery of relatively high-grade, coarse-grained, REE mineralization during our first drill program at the Carbo claims, has demonstrated the exceptional potential of this project to host REE mineralization. Additional surface work and drilling during the coming months will focus on both the northern extent of the complex, as well as along the southerly strike extent of the system."
Complete results for the 2010 program, are as follows:

* TREO is defined as the sum of lanthanum through lutetium plus yttrium (expressed as oxides) * The four most abundant REEs that make up the TREO reported above are cerium, lanthanum, neodymium and praseodymium. * As the orientation of the mineralized body is currently unknown, drilled intersections are not necessarily true thickness.
Samples were originally analyzed by ALS Chemex Laboratories Ltd. and re-analyzed by Activation Laboratories of Ancaster, ON using its method eight -- major oxide, rare earths and trace element package by fusion ICP and ICP/MS. Samples are prepped to 95% passing 200 mesh and treated by a lithium metaborate/tetraborate to ensure complete digestion of the sample. Results reported herein, are those produced by Activation Laboratories Ltd. Both laboratories produced highly anomalous values for the REE's; however, some discrepancies exist. As such, the values reported herein, are in general, the lesser of those reported by the different laboratories. The company attributes the variance in results to a number of factors including the coarse grained nature of the mineralization. To minimize variance in future analytical programs, the company will use larger diameter (HQ) drill core, and employ a rigorous series of standards and duplicates.
Drilling targeted an extension to the carbonatite system hosting Spectrum Mining's REE discovery (3.85% TREO over 33.4 metres, NWMA 2010 presentation). An airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, auger soil sampling, and geological mapping were used to refine drilling targets on the Carbo Property in an area approximately 900 m from Spectrum's drill holes.
Locations for both the Company's 2010 drill holes and historic drill holes reported by Spectrum, are shown on the attached map: https://files.newswire.ca/934/CIN.pdf.
Preliminary thin section analysis, at the University of British Columbia has identified the main rare earth bearing phases as bastnaesite, parisite, synchysite, burbankite and monzanite. The carbonatite consists mostly of crystalline calcite, ankerite and dolomite. Mineralogical studies are ongoing under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Mariano and Professor Lee Groat.
A permit application for approximately 7 km of exploration access and 10,000 metres of diamond drilling has been submitted to the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, BC. In addition, Allnorth Consultants Ltd. has been retained for future permitting and Ecofor Consulting Ltd. for baseline environmental studies. Once permits are granted, Duz Cho Construction LP and Duz Cho Logging LP will begin access development. The Duz Cho group of companies are owned by the Mcleod Lake Indian Band.
The Carbo Property consists of seven claims totalling an area of 2,778.63 hectares and is accessible by all weather gravel roads. It is approximately 80 km northeast of Prince George, B.C. CIN has a 75% interest in the property with Commerce Resources Corp. (CCE) holding the remaining 25%.
Canadian International Minerals Inc. director Tor Bruland, who is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, supervised the diamond drilling and has prepared, reviewed and approved the technical information in this news release.
