RE: African Queen partner Abba in Rongo rights disFom The Indian Ocean Newsletter Issue No. 1303 February 19, 2011

It was in vain that Irwin Olian, the CEO of the Canadian companyAfrican Queen Mines Ltd, went toargue his case to the Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who gave him an audience on 2February. As it happened, in spite of this meeting the Minister forthe Environment and Mineral Resources John N. Michuki still decided on thevery same day to give the Kenyan firm B & M Mining Company backits licence number 214 that had been previously revoked, “irregularly”by the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, according to minister. Thislicence number 214 covers an area of 15 sq km situated inside the 112 sqkm licence number 287 for gold exploration held by Abba Mining Company, a subsidiary ofAfrican Queen in the Rongo district in south east Kenya.
