What is the POS?

I was laid up this week so I got to watch a lot of Bloomberg and CNBC. I noticed early in the week the POS was about right but they misrepresented the previous day's close. On Friday that guy AJ on Bloomb was bashing gold everytime he was on "So and so said look at gold in anything but the USD, it is well off it's high in all other currencies."  Another time he used the big fancy touch screen to show us how bad the pm miners are doing because GDX is down 2.9% ytd.  TV news with an agenda. And soooo many people believe what is being spewed.
