RE: RE: RE: Reading Cliffs PowerpointFYI
The MAX. allowable gross vehicle weight (GVW) in Ont. is 63,500KGS. regardless of axle configuration.
Now subtract the empty (tare) weight of the truck/trailer combination of aprox. 22,500KGS.
The max. payload is aprox. 41,000KGS.
Now lets talk "half load season"
As Rallard said, in the spring thaw hauling is reduced to 5 tonnes per axle, thus on an eight axle combination,
(3 axle tractor,5 axle trailer) max GVW is now 40,000KGS - the tare weight of 22,500=17,500KGS payload.
Nobody in the trucking world would ever haul such a small payload such a long distance.
Their only viable option is to mass stockpile before half load season starts.
Anyway, their claim to haul 70 tonne loads on an Ontario highway are impossible!
