RE: Conspiracy Theory
RE: Conspiracy TheoryInteresting concept: here are some additional thoughts to think about -
Martinelli has not made a lot of friends since he acquired the reins of power a year and a half ago - since assuming power he has gone after the FARC - who in turn threatened to retaliate with attacks in the financial district. He has gone after several presidents and influential people - when you trap a rat and he/she has no place to go they will fight - when you trap a pack of rats you will get stampeded. Martinelli also had an attack on his private residence - someone tried to drive into his house. He also has Israeli's guarding him - I am sure this does not amuse the presidential guard who have always guarded leaders in Panama.
Then there is the arrest of Mr. Martinelli's cousin in Mexico on drug related matters - I had heard at one time this individual was the treasurer of the CD Party. The there are the Gringos - they are pissed off because they couldn't get their greasy mitts all over the canal expansion. Finally when you add up all the Diputados who mysteriously have jumped ship from the PRD to join the CD (all kinds of allegations that these congress people have been bought) it's not hard to see that there are some groups who may not take a shine anymore to Mr. Martinelli and these are only the ones we know about...
What does all this have to do with PTQ - well perhaps it helps to explain why Mr. Martinelli repealed the law last week as you add all this with the fact that his government does not seem to like Indians and unions - they don't seem to like him either mix in the PRD and all the other monkey business of Panama and Mr. Martinelli's desire to be president again and I suspect that with all this you get radical shifts in governance....
The good thing for us is - the changes to the law do not impact us - unlike Inmet who are at this year's PDAC with the sole intention of talking about their project in Panama and I am sure people are going to be asking them what happened and where the money will come from for their copper project... At least we don't have that problem...
