BAPE report released today

BAPE report released todayThese are my thoughts regarding the BAPE report released later today.

I do not believe there will be a moratorium.
There have been too many companies that have staked and drilled already, spending millions of dollars on exploration to now have to wait (further) to continue their operations. The report in my opinion will allow the companies to continue with strict rules and guidelines that must be followed.

Great !!

The companies that are in Quebec will be happy to follow similar rules and guidelines that they follow in many other jurisdictions already. Let's get back to business. The politicians have listened to all the concerns brought forth by the environmentalists, however business is business. The government, in my opinion, wasn't going to issue exploration permits to be followed by a moratorium. If they would do that, who would ever want to do business in Quebec? Secondly, Quebec spends TWO BILLION dollars per year importing gas that is in their own backyard. It is absurd that anyone would turn their backs on those kind of employment opportunities and an ongoing revenue stream (taxes, royalties, infrastructure growth).

I have never read an article or seen a real documentary ("Gasland" was completely debunked) that has shown any evidence that when safe "fracking" procedures are followed that people suffer ill effects. I would challenge anyone to prove me wrong. I'm sure when unsafe practices are implemented problems can be expected. So.....let's implement the "best practice" guidelines and move on.

I wonder how many people living in Quebec like to have a warm house in winter and a cool house in summer? Where do they think the natural gas comes from? It is just ludicrous to believe that you can have the best of both worlds: A) cheap, clean natural gas delivered to your door and; B) produce this gas from a location where NOBODY lives.
The reality is gas fields are all over inhabited areas with little or no danger when safe practices are implemented. I would be very disappointed if there is a moratorium - what would another 3 months, 6 months or a year prove? Those that believe there is not enough information to proceed will never be satisfied....so why even try to appease them with a bandaid solution such as a moratorium?

All the best,
