Exide and Batteries
Exide and BatteriesI believe Exide manufactured standard lead acid batteries. Cobalt is used in rechargeable batteries, and that includes the nickel-cadmium (NiCad) and lithium ion. Depending upon battery chemistry, some "lead acid" batteries may contain some cadmium, but I do not know the answer.
Honda has announced the use of "nickel-metal hydride" batteries in their new hybrid gas/electric car the Insight. They don't say what the other metal is but it is definite that cobalt is in there.
