RE: Eacom Timber

RE: Eacom TimberCanoutchie- Fair enough question. I'll give you the long version just cuz its late Friday night and I must have been left off the party invite lists by mistake so I'm sitting around reading the bullboards instead. I'm on the same wavelength as you as far as lumber goes. The US is sucking wind in the housing department as of late but people are still having babies, immigrants are still coming over and their population is still rising. And more people always means more houses. So even if they can't afford to build them right now, they will HAVE to build them eventually, one way or another. I would suggest by spending money on themselves instead of on other countries wars, but thats a different thread all together (I heard Trump is running for Prez). Anyways, I don't know where you are, but a lot of the lumber companies in BC are currently going hard trying to gain customers in Asia and are being successful at it. One company (albeit private) has gone from sending almost 80% of its output to the US to now shipping merely 46% down south. I forget the exact numbers, but their export to Japan has atleast doubled, tho I think it was more. These companies are steadily diverting wood across the pond. So now for the reason I'm all over Eacom. Mills have a maximum capapcity. Many mills shut down, for good, over the past couple years. So supply is tight. And its getting tighter for the US. Sooo with all the BC lumber off to sea, that leaves the US looking for suppliers. I'm hopeing this means Eacom is going to end up with MORE ORDERS than they can possibly fill. Eacom mills running at maximum production + high lumber price ($300+) should = sweet results. So although Eacom might not be selling to Japan, they can pick up the US customers left behind by the big BC players that will be filling Japans (Asian) needs. With all these new customers coming to town I can see us ending up in a bidding war for lumber that keeps prices strong if not ludacris. Another thing to consider (although off topic) is that the US is making a big deal about pine beetle and freaking out about BC lumber. This gives them one more reason to move their business east.
I also play WEF. Caught some of the early gains, bought more on the down yesterday...hopeing it stays in the .70s or beyond. I think it will. WEF is a bit of a different game, they do alot of Cedar which is a specialty wood. Its a little more valuable than the construction type lumber and has a variety of uses. I think it got caught up in the doom and gloom of the lumber crash but really shouldn't have, not as badly anyway.
(Disclosure: IMHO!!! :p )
