If you took time to research, you would realize that the facility in question is fourty years old and was supposed to be decommissioned. The newer facilities have far more advanced technology that would have likely averted this disaster. It really wasnt the facility itself despite its age, it is the diesel powered generators that failed, which are no longer used in new nuclear facilities.
If I am not mistaken the quake was the 4th largest, not 7th.
It is very tragic what is taking place right now and I hope and pray it is brought under control asap.
To reiterate his statement, it is clean and relatively safe, but when things go wrong they go really wrong. Hopefully this tragedy lends experience which will prevent future reoccurrences.
