Schaft Creek Mine Project - Federal Funding Allocated to Participate in the Environmental Assessment
OTTAWA, March 17 /CNW/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) has allocated $8,000 to the Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition to support its participation in the federal environmental assessment of the proposed Schaft Creek Mine Project, in British Columbia.
This funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency and is being provided to assist the recipient's participation in upcoming steps in the comprehensive study process, including the review of the comprehensive study report.
A funding review committee, independent of the environmental assessment process, was established to assess the requests for funding for this project. The committee's report, along with further information on the Project, is available on the Agency's Web site at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca, in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, under reference number 10-03-57852.
Copper Fox Metals Inc. proposes to develop an open-pit copper-gold-molybdenum-silver mine, 60 kilometres south of Telegraph Creek in northwest British Columbia, with a proposed ore production capacity of up to 150 000 tonnes per day over a projected 15-year operation period.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency administers the federal environmental assessment process, which identifies the environmental effects of proposed projects and measures to address those effects, in support of sustainable development.
