More on short position 3/16.........As reported earlier by some other posters, the short position at 3/16 remain releatively unchanged compared to 3/01 - at about 16.8 million shares.
However, the "current short coverage ratio" (the number of days required to buy the total shorted shares, based on the current daily number of shares traded) did lower a bit from 9.90 to 7.60. This improvement is caused by the higher number of daily trading when comparing the two periods.
The number of shares shorted remains very high at 6.2% out of 272.3 million shares outstanding. Hence, if the dominos ever tip the other way, the shorts will be hard pressed to cover.
