RE: RE: RE: RE: china consideringThe intention in China is to raise the percentage of electricity produced by nuclear power from 1% to 6% by 2020, so I don't think every Chinese peasant will exactly benefit from this program.  Nuclear energy is only one "wedge" of the energy pie, as many analysts have noted.  The main obstacle to expanding nuclear power may not be fear of fiasco, but cost.  Right now, generating electricity from nuclear costs 8.4 cents per kilowatt hour, compared to 6.2 for coal and 6.5 for natural gas.  Many people expect that this price will only increase as the industry will require more stringent safeguards.  The Chinese people do have a public opinion, and it should not be disregarded or belittled ("they do not understand..").
