From 21 Sep, 2011
To 24 Sep, 2011
Venue Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran

Mining Indonesia is recognized as the ONE event that offers a networking opportunity and industry platform for suppliers  to promote mining technology to the Indonesia market.

ASIA’S EMERGING POWERHOUSE
Economically strong, politically stable, reform minded, Indonesia is an emerging global powerhouse in Asia.

Today, with substantial funds and authorities devolved to the regions, Indonesia is one of the most decentralized countries in the world.

New mining laws are attracting investment back to the mining sector as certainty returns and companies look to Indonesia for growth.

PIVOTAL TO THE ASIAN COAL BOOM
Indonesia, already the world’s biggest exporter of coal for power plants supplies coal to emerging nations such as China, India, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries to feed coal-fired power plants (a cheaper option than own domestic supplies) making Indonesia pivotal to the Asian coal boom.

NEW MINING REGULATIONS ISSUED
Indonesia has issued two new regulations under its mining law to allow firms to start obtaining mining permits, in a move that should increase certainty and help boost investment in the mining sector.

The new regulations - one covering mining areas and the other on mining business - should allow investors to obtain new mining permits and help speed up issuance for existing investors.  "The regulations will be applied retroactively from 1 February 2010," Bambang Gatot Ariyono, director of coal and mining business at the energy and mining ministry, told reporters.
Edited by: Reuters 12th February 2010.

INDONESIA: LEADING THE REGION
• Largest economy in South East Asia
• GDP size US$550 billion (2009)
• GDP forecast to reach 6% (2011)
• Third fastest growing economy in Asia
• Inclusion in BRIC economy’s a possibility
• World’s largest reserves of minerals
• World’s biggest exporter of coal (thermal)
• South East Asia’s only member of G-20

INVESTMENT IN MINING TO SOAR
The government has said it expects mining investment to hit US$2.5 billion in 2010 up from US$1.81 billion in 2009 and to reach US$6 billion by 2012, supported by greater certainty after the introduction of new mining regulations.

The mining sector, a renowned market for resource extraction provides tremendous investment opportunities in Indonesia.
